Billionaire politician and husband to Nollywood actress, Regina Daniels, Prince Chinedu Munir Nwoko better known as Ned Nwoko, has sparked reactions over his comment on polygamy.
In an interview, Ned Nwoko blamed southern Nigerian men for contributing to prostitution in society by shunning polygamy.
He said: “Many women are out there on their own without husbands, especially in the southern part of the country, and there is a high level of prostitution. What some of our girls do to make ends meet is regrettable and if our men emulate their northern counterparts by having more than one wife, that could probably change the situation.”
“The average southerner may have only one wife, but many girlfriends also, and he is spending his money on the girlfriends; sometimes even more than on his wife. The man, who has three wives, for instance, concentrates on them and his children; every money he makes is spent on the family and he is more likely not to have any girlfriends or concubines. The money those with several girlfriends spend on them is a gift, not an investment in the family.”
Nwoko, who has four wives and nineteen children, said he is serving Nigeria by marrying many wives. He added that he and the Ooni of Ife, Oba Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, is also doing the same thing.

Uche Maduagwu slams Ned Nwoko
Kemi Filani News reported that controversial actor, Uche Maduagwu slammed Ned Nwoko over his comment about polygamy.
According to Uche Maduagwu, Rita Daniels, the mother of popular actress, Regina Daniels, should be blamed for gifting her daughter, Regina, to Ned all in the name of marriage.
Reacting, Uche Maduagwu took to social media and series of posts and wrote, “Seriously? And he want to represent Delta people with this KUNU sense? Na Regina Mama we blame for Dashing you her Pikin”.
Using King Solomon n the Bible as a reference, Uche stated that marrying many wives can not stop prostitution. He wrote, “King Solomon who had 300 wives, Abeg did that stop him from having hundreds of Concubines?”
