Nollywood actress, Rita Edochie has appealed to the Federal Government to release Nnamdi Kanu.
In a post on her Instagram page, the sister-in-law of Pete Edochie stated that if the FG release Nnamdi, the unrest in the South East will become history.
She told the government to stop playing with people’s lives, while their children are overseas.
“Release Mazi Nnamdi Okwu Kanu today and see the unrest in the South East become history.
Stop playing with people’s life, especially all you Elites. That your children are overseas and you are using other people’s children to create unrest.
If you are one of them your generation and generation to come will never no peace”.
Yul Edochie makes humble request to President Tinubu over Nnamdi Kanu
Similarly, Yul Edochie had appealed to the President of Nigeria, Bola Ahmed Tinubu to release Nnamdi Kanu.
Taking to his Instagram page, the movie producer sang the praises of President Tinubu, hailing him as a man who fought for democracy for 3 decades.
Describing the president as a builder and supporter of mën and women, he begged for him to release Nnamdi.
“To our leader, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, @officialBAT GCFR. The Jagaban. A man who has fought for democracy for 3 decades. A builder & supporter of men & women. My President, please release Nnamdi Kanu. A humble request from your son, Yul Edochie”.
Nnamdi Kanu arrested
Kemi Filani reported in 2021 that Nnamdi Kanu was re-arrested and brought back to Nigeria to face his trial.
Kanu was first arrested on October 14, 2015, on an 11-count charge bordering on terrorism, treasonable felony, managing an unlawful society, publication of defamatory matter, illegal possession of firearms, and improper importation of goods, among others.
He fled the country in September 2017 after an invasion of his home by the military in Afara-Ukwu, near Umuahia, Abia State.
The Nigerian government obtained a court order on September 20, 2017, to designate IPOB a terrorist group, and to proscribe it.
Nnamdi Okwu Kanu is a British-Nigerian political activist who advocates for the secession and independence of Biafra from Nigeria. He is the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, which he founded in 2014.
