We thought the drama between Nigerian footballer Jude Ighalo and his ex-wife, Sonia, was already over following her public apology to him, but I guess we were wrong.
Taking to her Instagram story, she admonished him to collect her bride price as she recounted how her father solely sponsored their traditional marriage. She claimed three years back, she threw a farewell party for them with goods and entertainment, but his family didn’t turn up, leaving her efforts wasted.
She claimed that Ighalo’s family disrespected her father by keeping him and his elders waiting as she stressed that he and his family should come to collect the bride price.
“Make plans to collect your bride price. Remember when I planned this three or four years ago, but your family did not turn up? After planning a lovely farewell party with lots of food and entertainment, you all wasted my money. Knowing that my father was the sole sponsor of our traditional marriage, your mother’s children disrespected him and his elders by keeping them waiting. Your older brother then claimed (as quoted by you in Dubai), that he was afraid of my father and couldn’t visit his home.
Please send your village representatives or my esteemed Sir Clement Ighalo, who is first in charge to collect the bride price”.
This is coming hours after she tendered a public apology to him, admitting that ending a relationship or friendship had always been challenging for her. She noted how they both struggled to make the marriage work even in the face of divorce, as she promised to always be there for him.
Sonia got married to Jude Ighalo in 2009 but separated in 2020 after 10 years of marriage. Since their separation, the couple have been embroiled in social media drama as Sonia hasn’t refrained from taking shots at him.
Last year, she confirmed her marital stance with Jude, revealing that they separated in 2019 but got back in 2021 and pulled the plug in 2022 without his signature. She claimed that the footballer crawled back again to her and she accepted because of the kids. Unfortunately, it didn’t work out because of his family.
