South Africans drag singer Tyla for condemning bullying of Nigerian model Chidimma Adetshina

Tyla comes under fire for defending Chidimma Adetshina

South Africans are mercilessly dragging Grammy singer Tyla for supporting Nigerian model Chidimma Adetshina.

Refreshing your memory, Miss Adetshina, a 23-year-old Law student, won the Miss South African beauty pageant. However, her win was controversial as South Africans questioned her citizenship and took to social media to call for her removal. Adetshina is born to a South African mother and a Nigerian father.

An investigation into Chidimma’s roots by South African Home Affairs discovered that the identity of an innocent South African mother may have been stolen by Adetshina’s mother. This prompted her to withdraw from the competition.

Surprisingly, Tyla took to her Twitter page to defend and condemn South Africans for bullying her. She stated that though she will always stand with South Africa, she advocates against bullying her.

“Disappointed that this happened to her, but wish you all the best, girl. Kill it.

I will always stand with South Africans, I just feel regardless of the opinions. She was bullied, and that’s what I don’t stand for”.

Her statement didn’t sit well with South Africans as they took to her comment section to mercilessly drag her.

One Chris Excel wrote, “We supported you when Nigerians bullied you. We supported you when Americans bullied you about your identity crisis. We supported you when you stole Barcadi. We supported nomculo wakho obhedayo. And this is how thank us.

One Poverty Killer Official wrote, “The way we South Africans fought tooth and nail for you when Black Americans, Davido stans and Ayra starr stans bullied you for months only for you to push an agenda against US???? All in the name of streams and views?

She further tweeted, “One thing you shouldn’t do is to not stand with your own people. Without us, you are nothing. Should have just ignored this Chidimma thing. Now, we will never see you the same.

One Zar Worker wrote, “Who forced you to make a statement?

One Itumeleng wrote, “If I were you, I would be quiet on this one

One Jacky wrote, “Sometimes you have to stay silent

One Vince wrote, “Aiii yooh! South Africans should have let Americans cook you, hey

One Ibhubesi wrote, “Don’t get too excited and spoil your brand

One Aphelele Tyelbooi wrote, “Yet they bully you everyday, but you never said anything

One Illy The Host wrote, “Sometimes it’s important to stay silent especially for a global superstar like you

One Chris Excel wrote, “One Grammy award you already think that your voice matters”.

Recall that Tyla rose to fame with her hit song, Water, which won her a Grammy award. The Grammy singer has since made her mark in the foreign music scene, from Nigeria to the Western world.

In a sit-down interview with KissFresh radio months back, the South African singer was asked what it was like working with Nigerian singer Tems, and she responded that the experience was amazing and that Tems is very talented. She went on to say that Tems is a force and that she has opened a lot of doors for female singers. The South African singer also spoke about how it has been an honour working with her.

Apart from Tems, Tyla has been quite open to working with Nigerian singers. She has often been seen hanging out with Ayra Starr, and both singers are often compared with each other, especially in their fashion sense.
