Fast-rising music star Spyro has thrown a shade at music executive and talent manager, Ubi Franklin.
Kemi Filani reported days back that Spyro, in an interview on Echo Room, had called out Ubi for owing him 5000 dollars for a gig he performed in Ghana.
Ubi had refuted his allegations and claimed that Spyro owed him money. He recalled how he introduced Spyro to a car dealer and expected to get a 10 percent commission from it, but Spyro didn’t give him anything.
Taking to his Instagram page this morning, Spyro showed off his material possessions as he stated that God has been faithful to him without taking 10 percent.
“Franklin speaking. Sorry I mean, frankly speaking, God has been faithful without taking no 10 percent on his faithfulness”.
In another post, admonishing upcoming artists, he used himself as an example that serving God pays.
“My brothers and sisters, especially to the young folks, these are evidence that serving God truly pays. You Didn’t have to do illegal to be this blessed, and this kind of riches comes with peace”.
Ubi wasn’t the only one Spyro called out in that interview. He recalled his ordeals while he was signed to Paulo Okoye’s record label and claimed that he had to take a loan to take care of himself while with the label as he never made anything from the label. Paulo debunked his claims as he shared receipts of his expenses on the singer. Okoye said he spent N12 million on Spyro and never gained a kobo from him.
Spyro, hit back at him, noting how he didn’t lie against the show promoter, as he recalled how he was chased out of a foreign hotel. He, however, stated that he was appreciative of Paulo’s support to him and for putting him on.
Paulo’s daughter, Vanessa, had also defended him as she stated that many in the music industry are crãzy. She noted how musicians love granting unnecessary interviews the moment they gain fame. Vanessa slammed Spyro for being so quick to bite the hand that once helped him before and prayed for God to forgive him.
In 2023, the upcoming singer opened up about his financial journey, revealing that he started the year with very little money in his account, less than 10,000 Naira. However, he has achieved significant success since the beginning of the year, including buying cars and multiple houses for himself and his family.
In another post, Spyro revealed how his mother’s suffering inspired him to excel as he celebrated her birthday.
In other news, last year, Spyro sent a message to upcoming artists. He educated them that signing with the biggest label or artiste in the world doesn’t guarantee their success. Enlightening them, Spyro made it known that one’s talent without diligence and hard work will fail one. The “Who Is Your Guy” singer went on to admonish them to stop building castles in the air, waiting for labels/people, and start investing in themselves.
