Nollywood actress Toyin Abraham has called on the Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu to do the needful following Sylvester Oromoni’s death, a 12-year-old student of Dowen College.
In a post shared on her Instagram page, Toyin Abraham questioned why they would beat a child in such a manner to the point of death.
Toyin Abraham said looking at the deceased pictures makes her sad, expressing displeasure on how a handsome, healthy boy would die because of the wickedness of his peers.
According to Toyin Abraham, the incident saddens her heart as a mother, human being and a Nigeria, adding that many young people are dying in Nigeria.
She wrote: How do you beat a child to the point of death? How do you wake up to the reality that the ‘living’ child you sent to school is returning to you as a corpse? Governor Sanwoolu @jidesanwoolu@lasgeducation please do the needful. People need to start talking. Dowen College need to do better than that terse release.
Looking at this picture above made me really sad. How can this healthy and handsome boy be dead because of wickedness of his peers? Who is rasing these monsters in most boarding houses? Where are the officials employed to look after these boys? I am sad as a mother, I am sad as human being and I am sad as a Nigerian. Why are too many young people dying, especially in this country.
Kemi Filani News recalls that Sylvester Oromoni’s story went viral on social media on Wednesday after a Twitter user, who claimed to be the boy’s cousin, recounted his version of the story.
He claimed that the student was killed after he rejected attempts by some boys to make him join a cult group.
However, in a statement on Wednesday 1st December, the school’s management debunked the claims stating the student was injured while playing football with his colleagues.
