It is a joyous time for Nollywood actress, Toyin Abraham Ajeyemi as her new movie, Malaika has hit a new milestone.
The movie star, via her Instagram page, announced that Malaika has grossed 300m since its release in the cinema. This has made the movie her highest-grossing film of all time and the 9th-grossing Nigerian film of all time. Ijakumo which was released in 2022, held the previous record as it grossed N270m at cinemas; The Ghost and The Tout grossed N134million.
An excited Toyin expressed gratitude to God and everyone who has since Malaika.
“Thank you GOD and thank you to everyone who has seen Malaika. Malaika is now the 9 highest-grossing Nigerian film of all time. Malaikathemovie is still showing in all cinemas”.
This is coming just a week after Toyin had taken a huge step against piracy as she paraded 5 of those trying to sell out her movie, Malaika, which is currently streaming in cinemas nationwide.
During a press conference, the mother of one revealed how she was hinted at the rampant piracy move, which made her frequent visitation at the hospital and also gave her panic attacks.
About the actions taken to curb the spread of the malicious link, the actress disclosed that the links were destroyed and 5 suspects have been arrested regarding the issue.
Just a few days back, Toyin had blocked an influencer for comparing her with Funke Akindele.
An X influencer, Adetutu Balogun irked the actress when she mockingly compared her victory at the box office with Funke Akindele and Mercy Aigbe’s victory, stating that Funke will forever be the boss.
Following this Toyin had clicked the block button on her and she had lamented over it.
To add to it, Toyin Abraham had allegedly parted ways with her protege, Abike Shuga, who was the main cast of Malaika.
Kemi Filani first noticed their relationship had deteriorated when Abike Shuga was noticeably missing in many of Malaika’s campaigns and Toyin stopped promoting her heavily on her social media page. Kemi Filani did further research and noticed Toyin Abraham had unfollowed her on Instagram, meanwhile, Abike Shuga is still following the mother of one.
