Twitter personality known as Miss Fey has taken a critical stance against a popular church, known as CCI, accusing it of being condescending towards Christians.
She expressed that Christians who do not engage in praying in tongues are being looked down upon in the church. The controversy started when Twitter user whose name is on my NamedNameless raised a question about non-tongue-speaking Christians, stating, “Christians who don’t pray in tongues, how do you guys manage?”
Miss Fey responded to this, expressing her decision to stop attending CCI due to what she perceives as a lack of inclusivity. She revealed feeling like an outsider and explained, “Not everyone can speak in tongues and not everyone will. I got tired of attending service because every second is spent praying in the Holy Ghost.”
Supporting Miss Fey’s perspective, Twitter user Muyiwa noted a similar experience during a church service, particularly addressing the potential discomfort for newcomers. He questioned, “What about the unbelievers who are attending the church for the first time?”
Miss Fey continued her critique, revealing that CCI members don’t handle criticism well and exhibit judgmental behavior. She added, “CCI members don’t take criticism, and they are always moving like cultists.” She expressed her decision to mute their tweets as a way to disengage from what she perceives as negativity.
As the Twitter thread unfolded, CCI members responded defensively, defending their practices and criticizing Miss Fae’s opinions. In response, she maintained her stance, stating that their comments reinforced her belief in their condescending attitude. She accused them of making others feel spiritually inadequate for not participating in speaking in tongues.
Another individual, Fola Omolu, joined the conversation, emphasizing the irony that CCI members, despite being aware of the Bible’s guidance on speaking in tongues, often behave as if they are rewriting the scripture to suit their preferences.
