Nollywood actor, Uzor Arukwe has replied a fan of his who called him out over his fake Igbo accent.
The fast-rising actor, who won the praises of many with his accent in the billion naira movie, A Tr! be Called Judah, had received criticism from a female fan, who is also Igbo. The lady slammed him over his accent which she considers fake and off-putting.
“Your “igbotic” accent was too much that it became too fake and off-putting.
From an Igbo girl to you, our brothers don’t sound like that. You overdid it”.
Replying to her, the actor tendered an apology as he stated that he didn’t mean to overdo. What made his apology funny is that the actor replied her with the fake igbotic accent, while telling her not to be angry.
“I aporogize. I didn’t mean to overdo it. Nwanne Biko don’t be angly”.

Uzor isn’t the only star who has been slammed for his accent.
Nigerian filmmaker, Biodun Stephen had slammed Big Brother Naija ‘Level Up’ housemate, Hermes over his accent, questioning where it came from.
This came after Hermes had via his Instagram story called out a certain bank for embarrassing him at an event. Narrating his ordeal, he vented out over how the bank organizers didn’t make a move to save his face.
His accent left Biodun perplexed and she took to a blog’s comment section to question where his British accent was coming from.
Replying her, Hermes stated that he reinvented himself despite coming from a slum. According to her, he put all his efforts into making himself a better person and is proud of who he has become.
Some years back, Uzor Arukwe opened up about his early years in Nollywood and rising to fame, detailing how he quit 10 years in the corporate world for a career in Nollywood and the challenges he encountered in his early years.
He spoke on life before Nollywood and how he worked in the retail and telecommunications sectors for 10 years before finally taking the bold step.
