Burna Boy’s mum was at the BET Awards 2019 to help him pick up his award for Best International Act after he defeated fellow Africans like AKA and Mr. Eazi.
Though Burna Boy was at the event in Los Angeles with his mother and girlfriend Steflon Don, he was however not available to mount the stage to pick up the award at the time he was called upon.
His mother was however on ground to do that for him.
Burna Boy’s mum speaking: “He must be the most restless person I ever met, because he was here right now”
She proceeded to give a powerful speech which had everyone cheering.
“Thank you very much BET. Thank you Africa. Because that’s the constituency for which we got noticed in the first place. And the message from Burna, I believe, would be that every black person should please remember that you were Africans before you became anything else”.
Her words were met with louder cheers as she concluded:
“Thank you”
