This comment, though made humorously, was linked to a past lyric by Davido in which he referred to Mr. Dele, who is significantly older than him and related to his first baby mama, Sophia Momodu, as “my boy.” Odumodu Black praised the lyric for its simplicity yet powerful impact.
However, not everyone found the humor in his statement. Some netizens criticized Odumodu Black, suggesting that he was disrespectful for calling Davido a fool, while others defended him, understanding the humor in his remark. The incident sparked comparisons between Davido and another artist, Wizkid, with some arguing that Odumodu Black wouldn’t have made a similar comment about Wizkid.
Recal that recently, Odumodu Black has faced backlash for objectifying women. In November, he was criticized for a lyric in his song that implied women need to offer their bodies to afford luxuries like wigs and handbags. Angry netizens had even taken to google to update his Wikipedia bio, labeling him as an “E- list misogynistic Nigerian rapper.” This update followed the criticism he received for his derogatory lyrics towards women.
On a more postive light, Odumodu Black achieved a significant milestone in his career by winning the Rookie of the Year award at the 16th edition of the Hades Award in September. This recognition came as a pleasant surprise to his fans and supporters and marked an important achievement in his emerging music career.
