Nollywood actor and pastor Yul Edochie has come under fire after laying claim to the popular name ‘Nwunye Odogwu’.
Taking to his Instagram page on Saturday, the controversial actor credited himself as the originator of the name. He noted how, in 2022, he launched the name by using it to praise his second wife, Judy Austin. Now, the name has become popular, and many have adopted it.
He noted how those still looking for a husband use the name as he prayed for them and admonished Nigerians to give him credit.
“In 2022, I launched the name NWUNYE ODOGWU on social media, which is what I call Ijelem, Judy Austin. The name immediately went viral.
It went global. Today, everybody is answering Nwunye Odogwu, even those still looking for husbands. Don’t worry; God will answer your
prayers. As una dey use the name, just remember where it came from and give me my credit. Make God no judge una.
YUL EDOCHIE.”
His statement didn’t sit well with social media users, who slammed him.

This isn’t the first time Yul is laying claim to creating a name. Early this year, Yul had claimed to be the originator of the popular slang for the year, “No gree for anybody”.
Explaining how he revealed that people had been telling him that he was the one who started the slogan, and when he investigated the matter, he believed them, hence, why he is demanding credit for being the originator of the popular slogan.
