Inkblot Productions teamed up with Anthill and Anakle Films for this adventurous Cinema movie, “Day of Destiny” (DOD).
So, we stormed the cinema to see the movie and bring back reports to you, our esteemed readers.
Day Of Destiny (DOD) is arguably Nollywood’s first adventurous movie centered on time travel.
Written and directed by Akay Mason and Abosi Ogba, DOD chronicles the lives of two teenage brothers, Chidi and Rotimi (played by Olumide Oworu and Denola Grey, respectively); who, in the quest to change their family’s destiny, time-traveled to twenty years behind (2000).
Aside from its excellent ensemble, Norbert Young, Ireti Doyle, Jide Kosoko, Toyin Abraham, Ini Dima-Okojie, Blossom Chukwujekwu, Mr. Macaroni, and a host of others, Day Of Destiny earns itself an extra mark for flawlessly executing the ‘Flash Back’ concept.
The major issue observed in the one hour, 50 minutes movie is the characters and their interpretations.
Olumide Oworu earned more kudos for his unreserved script interpretations, while Denola Grey needs to go back to acting classes to brush his talents. He is still acting like an amateur.
Our dearest Toyin Abraham is beginning to be stereotypical in movies, and it is becoming tiresome. Same ‘area woman’ character. On behalf of her dear fans, we beg to see more and better sides of Toyin. Enough of the ‘The Ghost and Tout’ repetition.
Hmmm… Broda Shaggi, he overdid it this time with his chanting and brouhaha. Overacting always messes up a good job.
For Ini Dima and Blossom Chukwujekwu, it was a job well done.
If you would want to see the first Nigerian adventurous movie, then see a Day of Destiny. If you’re not really into such films, then you would end up annoyed.
