Written and directed by Charles Uwagbai, the 2018 movie tells the story of a young woman from the ghetto called Isila played by Toyin Abraham
She encounters a ghost called Mike who is trying to communicate with the people he left behind. Helping him get her involved in a murder mystery which she sends her down an interesting path.
It is a very relaxing movie, especially this period of sad news all around the corner.
Bling Lagosians by Bolanle Austen-Peters
Another Nigerian movie that you really need to see on Netflix is Bling Lagosians.
Directed by Bolanle Austen-Peters, it depicts the glamorous, over the top Lagos lifestyle in all its glory.
The cast includes names like Mona Lisa Chinda, Jide Kosoko, Gbenga Titiloye, Elvina Ibru, Helen Paul, Osas Ighodaro Ajibade, Alex Ekubo, Toyin Abraham and former Big brother Housemates, Bisola and Bambam.
The movie follows an affluent, flamboyant, over the top family, the Holloways, living in Lagos. Despite not being as wealthy as they used to be, the family struggles to hold on to their past glory even if it means living in debt.

Isoken is a romantic comedy, Isoken. Two men are after Isoken’s heart played by Dakore Egbuson Akande but she gets to pick just one. The movie is so different from most Nigerian romantic comedies because of its feminist leanings, it is precisely the romantic comedy for every career woman.
King of Boys by Kemi Adetiba
Kemi Adetiba’s King of Boys is a more aggressive feminist story, one in which violence is the weapon that obliterates patriarchy. The ambitious story follows Eniola Salami (played competently by Sola Sobowale), a woman who has conquered the men of Lagos underworld and now wants to conquer a different set of powerful men: the gatekeeper of Nigerian politics. Inspired by the Godfather trilogy, King of Boys is the ambitious crime drama Nollywood did not know it needed.
LIONHEART by Genevieve Nnaji
The film, which revolves around a woman on a mission to prove her capability in handling her father’s bus company despite having a proven track record, is a love letter to Eastern Nigerian. It is set in Enugu. It features mostly Igbo actors, and it captures the strange patriarchy in an Igbo household, where a woman is given the best education, but not trusted to handle affairs related to business competently.
