With the kind of standard Netflix has created, one would expect that the films showing would be as good or even better than the cinema standard movies. Now, let’s see if the Nollywood movie, Tanwa Savage, meets this expectation.
Tanwa Savage is the story of a young married man named Savage who needs a child. He has two side chicks, one who is Igbo and another Yoruba, while he is also married to a Hausa woman.
Coincidentally, his three women get pregnant at the same time, and since he had been desperate for a child, he decided to keep the three of them in his home till they give birth.
However, his wife in a desperation to also get a child cheated on her husband and she isn’t sure if the pregnancy is for him or the person she cheated with. At the point of giving birth, the truth about who owns each child begins to unfold, and Savage is shocked at the revelation he is getting from his three women.
Picking it from the title “Tanwa Savage”, there is nothing interesting or curiosity-driven about the title, and if a random person sees it, there is no drive to watch it. The title gives off the film as boring without even watching it, which isn’t good enough.
The plot is wack, and there are too many loose ends in the story. It makes one wonder if the writer took time to work on the storyline. The conclusion, too, seems rushed, and it felt like the writer was tired and just wanted it to end without putting effort into making a good movie. In all, the storyline was weak, and not a lot of intelligent thinking went into it.
The directing is just as weak as the plot, and it is absolutely nothing commendable in the directing of Tanwa Savage. The twist at the end even shows how confused the director is because it creates more of a confusion than the suspense the director was trying to achieve.
However, the movie started well and the moaning sound at the beginning is likely to give high hopes as to what to expect in the movie.
The acting was good, and that’s the only thing that is likely to keep anyone throughout the movie. The subtle comedy and banter between the wives is also quite interesting, and although some scenes seem unnecessary, the acting wasn’t bad at all.
The production as a whole isn’t so great. Both the director and writer could have done better in the overall production of the movie. In terms of rating, the film would get a 3/10
