The United Kingdom Attorney General, Suella Braverman, has adjourned the organ harvesting case against former Deputy Senate President Ike Ekweremadu and his wife, Beatrice, to July 7 to determine whether the case will be tried in the country or Nigeria.
Ekweremadu and his wife, Beatrice, appeared before the Uxbridge Magistrate Court in the United Kingdom on Thursday over organ harvesting charges allegedly involving a 15-year-old boy.
KEMI FILANI NEWS recalls that Ekweremadu and his wife were arrested by the Specialist Crime Team of the Metropolitan Police and detained in London for alleged conspiracy to harvest the organ of a child.
According to the prosecutor, the minor, David Ukpo, who alleged that he was forced to donate his kidney to the Senator’s daughter, is 15-year-old.
Channels Television reported that the case has now been adjourned to July 7 at Westminster Magistrate Court to enable the UK Attorney General, Suella Braverman, to determine whether the case will be tried in the country or Nigeria.
This publication had reported that the Senate President, Ahmad Lawan, disclosed that a delegation would on Friday visit the former Deputy President of the Senate in London.
Lawan assured that the Senate would continue to engage with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Nigeria High Commissioner in London on the issue to ensure that the Senator was given all necessary support.
