The All Progressives Congress (APC) has suspended a former deputy speaker of Ogun State House of Assembly, Oludare Kadiri, popularly called Maba, for alleged anti-party activities.
According to PUNCH, the leadership of Ward 11 in Ifelodun Constituency, Ijebu-North Local Government Area of the state, suspended Kadiri on Saturday.
The General Secretary and Ward Councillor, Olarenwaju Abiodun and Sobonojo Adeniyi, confirmed the suspension in a joint report on Sunday.
Abiodun and Sobonojo disclosed that the Ward Congress affirmed Kadiri’s suspension on Sunday.
The party leaders accused Kadiri of hobnobbing with the opposition and vowing to work against Governor Dapo Abiodun’s reelection.
The report partly reads, “Conclusively, the nineteen out of the twenty-seven Exco members unanimously agreed and voted for the indefinite suspension of Hon. Oluwadare Kadiri (Maba) from ward 11 APC.”
The Ogun State Publicity Secretary of APC, Tunde Oladunjoye, who confirmed the suspension on Sunday, said, Yes (it is true). It’s a decision taken at the ward level,” PUNCH reports.
Kadiri, however, dismissed the suspension, saying those behind the move are “jobless”.
He said, “They are a faction and I don’t even recognise their chairman. He was not even elected, I don’t know how he is now parading himself as my chairman. He is not the elected chairman. The case is still in court, they are still trying to determine who the authentic chairman of the ward is. Can you build something on nothing? Nobody invited me, I don’t know my offense.
“They are jobless and the reason why I say this is that they are just looking for recognition because I don’t even know where they are coming from.
“I didn’t receive any letter to that effect. I’m just seeing it on social media. I have not seen any official letter from them, maybe when I see an official letter from the party, I will know what to do. There are procedures everywhere, they should go and look for jobs.”
