The campaign office of Senator Magnus Abe has been destroyed by hoodlums in Nonwa, Tai Local Government Area, Rivers State.
The Senator had prepared to inaugirate the office on Monday when news of its destruction surfaced.
Abe took to social media with photos of the damage done to the building, with a promise to go ahead with the inauguration.
The Senator wrote, “Ahead of the commissioning of Our Campaign Office today in Nonwa, Tai Local Government Area, Rivers State, the building and already set stage was attacked and destroyed in the early hours of this morning. Properties are evidenced in the pictures attached below, were destroyed.
“Regardless of these deliberate and illicit display of lawlessness, WE SHALL GO AHEAD TO COMMISSION OUR OFFICE TODAY IN NONWA, TAI.
“We assure Rivers People that we will continue to go about our campaigns peacefully in total compliance with the relevant laws of our great country.”
Reacting, one Facebook user, Dumnamene Fiito, wrote, “It’s shameful that individual that went about campaigning during their time are arming people with gun not to allow other political party especially the BIG PARTY SDP in Rivers State to campaign. SMA, SDP, ABE, MAGNUS, NGEI is in our heart and no amount of intimidation can stop us from voting.”
@Felix Yeezor Felix wrote, “This is a testimony of your success ahead , there is no success without a story to tell. Be strong and be courageous sir , you are our next Governor.”
On his part, @Isugu Jerome wrote, “This is the highest they can only go nothing more, they can’t stop people from voting SDP guber candidate, they can’t destroy Magnus Abe from the people’s mind.”
