Senator Eyinnaya Abaribe, representing Abia South Senatorial District in the 9th National Assembly, has said that they have the numbers to impeach President Muhammadu Buhari as most Senators of the All Progressives Congress, APC, are in support of the impeachment move.
KEMI FILANI NEWS had reported that senators from opposition parties had given President Buhari six weeks ultimatum to address the security situation or face impeachment.
The senators stormed out of the chamber chanting, “All we are saying, Buhari must go”, “Nigeria must survive”, “Ahmad Lawan should follow”, etc.
Speaking on the impeachment move, Abaribe stated that most of the Senators are fed up with President Buhari’s administration, and they are ready to force him out of office.
The federal lawmaker stated this while speaking on Channel Television’s Politics Today on Wednesday.
He added that the Senators could no longer sit and watch while President Buhari crashes Nigeria.
Abaribe said, “…It’s not true to say that we don’t have the numbers [to impeach Buhari]. Most of the APC Senators are with us.
“And at the point, when this starts, that’s when Nigerians will know that almost every Senator is fed up and can no longer continue to see a situation that looks like what happened in Rome.
“This is exactly what’s going on today. [The question is], do we wait until this administration crashes the nation or do we take action to prevent it.”
