Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has departed Nigeria for the US where he will meet with his counterpart, Kamala Harris and other leaders in the country.
Osinbajo will be holding meetings with Harris and the leadership of the World Bank Organisation at the White House.
This was disclosed by his Media Aide, Laolu Akande, who, however, failed to disclose the purpose of the meeting.
Akande tweeted, “VP Osinbajo leaves Abuja today leading FG delegation to Washington DC pitching recently launched Energy Transition Plan. He will be meeting American VP Harris in the White House, World Bank Group President, other top US govt leaders and private sector interests.”
The purpose of the meeting was, however, disclosed by Osinbajo who tweeted, “Leaving Nigeria this morning to lead a Federal Government delegation to Washington DC to pitch Nigeria’s #EnergyTransition Plan. I will be meeting leadership of the US Government, leadership of the World Bank and private sector players.”
The trip is coming weeks after Osinbajo had a successful surgery.
Dr Nicholas Audifferen, Chief Personal Physician to the Vice President, said Osinbajo suffered right femur fracture.
The Vice President who had been hospitalised to enable him to undergo surgery was recently discharged.
Audifferen tweeted, “After the Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, SAN was admitted in the Duchess International Hospital last Saturday, July 16, 2022, on account of a right femur fracture, he had corrective surgery without any complications
“He was admitted for a total of 7 days during which he had physiotherapy and a smooth rehabilitation following the surgical operation. He has been fully discharged and is now recuperating.”
Expressing gratitude, Osinbajo took to social media with photos he took with some of the staff of Duchess International Hospital where he had the surgery.
He wrote, “My deep gratitude to everyone for your get-well wishes and prayers following my surgery.
“And special appreciation to the amazing team of surgeons, doctors, nurses, physiotherapists, and the management of the Duchess International Hospital Lagos, for providing such excellent care.”
