Tukur Mamu, the lead negotiator between bandits and kidnapped Kaduna-bound train passengers in March, has been arrested with his family members in Cairo, the capital of Egypt.
Mamu was arrested on his way to Saudi Arabia for lesser Hajj and was detained at the Cairo International Airport for 24 hours.
He was later repatriated back to Nigeria.
Speaking with Daily Trust, Mamu said nothing incriminating was found in his possession after being investigated by the Egyptian security agencies.
Mamu, who said he left Nigeria Tuesday, insinuated that the Nigerian Government planned to detain him in another country just as was done to the self-acclaimed Yoruba freedom fighter, Sunday Igboho.
He, however, said that could not happen because the Egyptian Government found that his papers were genuine.
KEMI FIANI NEWS recalls that Mamu pulled out of the negotiation with bandits after alleging a threat to his life and attempted blackmail by the Nigerian Government.
The Federal Government has yet to react to Mamu’s claim, but some persons have accused him of conniving with terrorists, an allegation he denied.
