The Commissioner of Police, FCT Police Command, CP Babaji Sunday, has said there was no armed invasion at the residence of Senator Sani Musa in Abuja.
The residence of the Senator representing Niger East Senatorial District had been reported to have been invaded by armed men.
This was corroborated by former minister of aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, who claimed that some of the invaders had been arrested by security operatives.
He tweeted, “The horrendous attempt to kill Sen. Sani Musa,a dear friend and brother of mine, a leading member of the APC and one of the Directors in the Tinubu/Shettima PCC in his home this evening by 9 well-armed, bloodthirsty and violent assassins is despicable. I wholeheartedly condemn it.
“Thankfully some of the perpetrators have been apprehended by the security agencies and those that were behind this dastardly attempt to kill the Senator and his family shall be exposed and brought to justice.
“May God protect us all from evil and bloodthirsty men.”
However, in a statement on Sunday, the FCT Command said no such incident happened.
The commanded wrote, “The Commissioner of Police, FCT Police Command, CP Babaji Sunday, wishes to state emphatically that there was no invasion by armed men on the Abuja residence of Senator Sani Musa representing Niger East Senatorial District in the hollowed chambers of the National Assembly.
This is contrary to false publications being peddled by some media platforms who have failed to verify information in a bid to be perceived as “breaking the news”.
“The CP, in line with the directives of the Inspector-General of Police, has carried out strategic review of the security architecture in the FCT with improved deployments where necessary. He therefore urges residents of the FCT to disregard the publication as the contents false and targetted at causing unecessary unrest amongst FCT residents, while vigilance is strongly advised, suspicion or abnormal occurrence is to be reported through the following numbers: 08032003913, 08061581938, 07057337653, and 08028940883.”
