The candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, has taunted others in the presidential race which includes Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi, by describing himself as a wrestler, stressing that despite that attribute, he doesn’t wrestle with pigs.
According to him, he has suffered nothing but attacks and insults from the other candidates all in a bid to detract and divert his attention.
Tinubu said this at a town hall meeting in Calabar, the Cross River State capital.
“No other person is running like me. They have no facts, they have no experience. They have no track record. They have no degree of honesty. They can’t keep their promises. They resort to insults and abuses to detract. No, it doesn’t catch me; to divert, I say no, I’m from Tinubu square; to wrestle, I’m a wrestler, but I don’t wrestle with the pig,” he stated.
The former governor of Lagos went on to state that his participation in the 2023 race is for the development of Nigeria.
“My concern is the development of Nigeria. This a talented country, God blessed this country. In the past 60 years, we are yet to make the necessary progress we ought to have made. Telling the past stories is gone with the wind; moving Nigeria forward is a task that must be done,” he stated.
Tinubu speaks on source of wealth
Recently, Tinubu slammed those questioning his wealth. According to him, such people may be enemies of wealth.
The former governor of Lagos, who spoke to BCC Africa, however, said he made money from the investment in real estates that he inherited.
This is as he debunked claims that he gets a share of the revenue generated by Lagos State which he once governed.
Asked about his campaign, he said, “Things are going very well. I’m very confident that this election will be free and fair. I’m the front runner and that is why I’m getting many arrows.”
On his priorities, if elected President, he said, “Security and economic recovery to accelerated development, to get Nigerians employed and get inflation down. You know, monetary policy needs to be changed. Subsidy needs to be decided upon and then removed.”
