Nigerian movie producer, Ayo Shonaiya has given out about 150 Ankara Aso-ebi materials to the people he expects as guests when he finally lays his mother to rest.
According to the movie producer, those he’s given the materials to were surprised when he didn’t request for money from them, quite contrary to the tradition where guests are expected to pay for the Aso-ebi materials.
Ayo Shonaiya shared on Twitter.
“So, for my mother’s burial next month, I have been sending out IVs and Ankara to my invited guests. And they ask me “how much?” When I tell them I’m not selling Ankara, they seem to be shocked! Am I doing something wrong here? I’ve sent out like 150 4 & 6 yards already.”
Wondering how his mother would feel about his gesture, he shared on Instagram:
“I just don’t know how my Mum would feel about it if she was alive.“
