Graduates from the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics, Joseph Sarwuan Tarka University (formerly Federal University of Agriculture), Makurdi, Benue State, on Monday, stormed the school campus protesting and demanding that the school management mobilized them for National Youth Service.
The protesting graduates lamented that three years after graduation they were yet to be mobilized for NYSC adding that they had spent seven years for a four-year programme.
The protesters who were seen with placards that read; “We Tired Of Staying At Home”, “Nutrition and Dietetics We Want To Serve”, “We Must Go For Service”, “Three Years Without Reply”, and so on, threatened to stage another protest if the school management didn’t not mobilized them within one month.
One of them who gave her name simply as Patience told our correspondent that the school management refused to pay an undisclosed amount of money to National University Commission (NUC) to write to JAMB for the approval of their course for NYSC.
“We graduated since 2019. (But) we haven’t been mobilized (for NYSC). The School management claimed that our course needed to be uploaded on Jamb website which is been held by NUC. NUC needed to give jamb approval for uploading our course and that hasn’t been done. Since 2019, thats a fake story,” she told KemiFilaniNews.
She continued: “We have a genuine story which had it that the school refused to pay NUC so they can write to jamb. Claiming that our department haven’t generated such amount of many that the NUC is demanding just for uploading of our course on Jamb even after accreditation. It’s been 3 years now. We were admitted in 2014/2015 academic session. The school management is adamant about it which they abnormally left this issue to a sit for this long.

Thats our cry,” she added.
Efforts by our correspondent to get the comment of the school management proved abortive as a spokesperson of the school could not be reached as at the time of filing this report.
