Shehu Muazu, a 28-year-old security guard, was remanded on Wednesday at the Life Camp Police Station in Abuja after a Kado Grade 1 Area Court in Abuja found him guilty of conspiring to steal N1.2 million worth of armoured cable wires.
The defendant, who admitted guilt to the crime, was remanded until sentencing on March 14 by Presiding Judge Muhammed Wakili.
Muazu of Dawaki, FCT Abuja, is on trial for three counts that include theft, trespassing, and criminal conspiracy.
Earlier, Mr. Adah Daniel of Chessviel Court Life Camp, Abuja, reported the incident to the Life Camp police station on March 5 at around 7:40 p.m., according to the prosecution’s solicitor, Stanley Nwafoaku.
Nwafoaku alleged that, on the same date, at about 1:54 p.m, the defendant and his accomplice now at large, trespassed into one of the buildings belonging to Mr Ogunniyi Adebisi where he guards.
He alleged that Muazu and his accomplice stole 60 meters armuored cable worth N1.2 million and five buckets of paint.
The prosecutor said that during police investigation, the defendant admitted to the crime.
The prosecution counsel alleged that the offence contravened sections 347, 327 and 287 of the Penal Code Law. (NAN)
