Consumers of alcohol contents are usually advised to drink responsibly, not because it would make the producers wealthier, but solely because of the health of the consumers.
A young man aged 30, identified as Amos, has gotten far more than he bargained for as he loses his life to excessive alcohol consumption. The deceased allegedly decided to swim in his drunken state and reportedly drowned inside Atabong river in Eket area of Akwa Ibom.
According to reports, he had attended the opening of a funeral house in town, and was offered free bottles of alcohol as a guest but he drank himself to stupour owing to the availabilty of free drinks.
Thereafter, he decided to take a cool bath inside Atabong river, on Sunday evening as he normally does.
Eyewitnesses said he only swam for few minutes and was not seen again. An alarm was raised to rescue him but he was no where to be found. His dead body was later spotted on Tuesday as his body was long decomposed.
