The federal government of Nigeria has called on the governors of each state to ban Sallah festivities in their domain as a measure to curb the spread of COVID-19 – The advice was given on Thursday, July 23 by the Presidential Task Force (PTF), Boss Mustapha on COVID-19.
The SGF, during the briefing of the PTF, said the federal government hoped that the ban would be upheld and replicated by other states. He further urged Nigerians to continue to observe COVID-19 guidelines and protocols. “We urge all state governments to ensure that guidelines are adhered to and citizens should not indulge in activities that would allow for the spread of the virus and lives are endangered,” he said.
This comes after the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Abubakar declared Friday, 31st July 2020, as the day to celebrate Eid-el-Kabir known as Illeya festival. He also advised on how to observe prayers across the country amid the Covid-19 pandemic.
