The Central Bank Of Nigeria, CBN has finally spoken on claims that the Governor of the bank, Godwin Emefiele has been fired by the Nigerian Government.
Recall that News making the round has it that Emefiele had been Sacked leaving many with guesses about the government’s reason for making such a decision just barely a week after its Presidential Elections.
However, in a phone call put across to Spokesman of the apex bank, Isaac Okoroafor today, he debunked the rumour saying that the governor was in his office carrying out his daily duties.
He said; “I don’t understand what you mean…as I speak to you, the CBN governor (Emefiele) is in his office performing his duties”.
Meanwhile, some Nigerians have reacted as the Nigerian government asked the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele, to proceed on leave, ahead of expiration of his tenure.
Reacting to the directive, Nigerians were of different opinions. While some feel Emefiele will be replaced with a Northerner, others saw nothing wrong in it.
