The Inspector Genre of Police, Mr. Mohammed Adamu, has directed full-scale probity into the situations around the attempted attack on the life of Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom.
Mr. Frank Mba, the Police Public Relations Officer, said this in a statement made available to newsmen.
Mba quoting the IG said the attack on the life of Gov. Ortom would not be tolerated, and it is highly condemned, adding that the Commissioner of Police to strengthen and beef up security around the Governor and in the state.
He states that the CP had been directed to carry out a serious investigation Into the incident, ensuring that the perpetrators are arrested and prosecuted.
The statements read in part, “The IGP has also specifically directed the CP to carry out painstaking investigations into the incident and ensure the arrest and prosecution of persons indicted in the course of the investigations.
“Meanwhile, in order to ensure a speedy, thorough and conclusive investigation into the matter, the IGP has ordered the immediate deployment of a team of specialized investigators from the Force Criminal Investigations Department, Abuja, in Benue State to provide additional investigative support to the Benue State Police Command.”
