KFB Movie! Desmond Elliot deserves an award for ‘Finding Mercy’
We finally got to watch one of the much talked about movies of the year – ‘Finding Mercy’…oh yeah we did and we were impressed, wow! You can watch trailer HERE.
‘Finding Mercy’ is a suspense filled drama which revolves around two
friends played by Blossom Chuks Chukwujekwu (Flower Girl) and Uti
Nwachukwu – they find themselves in a complicated situation with a motherless
baby.
One decides to keep the baby only to discover truths he would rather not
know.
‘Finding Mercy’ was beautifully written….each character had a story to tell, it was complicated yet well executed.

The casting was very good, the actors were exceptional…the sound track in the movie was effective and it flowed well with all the scenes.
Story: Finding Mercy is your typical Nollywood movie but with a
different storyline. Mercy (Oyindamola Lanpejo) loses her mum at childbirth but
gets adopted by armed robber turned Good Samaritan, Jato (Blossom
Chuks-Chukwujekwu).
Eventually, the truth comes out and her biological father, Daniel Olatunji
(Desmond Elliot) desperately wants her back.
Thumbs Up & Down:
Our movie veterans delivered to their roles, Rita the hypercondraic
who seemed to be afraid of her past wasn’t bad…Chioma Chukwuka was also pretty alright, the dutiful wife, who found out
after 15years of marriage, her husband was cheating on her, was pretty
angry but not surprised.
Desmond, who played two roles of
director and actor was our champion. He had the most powerful lines for
his role, which he delivered too. The way his mood changed from the
approachable boss to semi killer was laudable.
We weren’t impressed with their costumes! The costume could also have been improved as the beards
on Jato and Daniel Olatunji look plastered on…we
believe actors should be driven and go all out to deliver to their
roles and if it means growing a beard then for heavens sake, grow a
beard, that goes to Blossom and Desmond. For Uti and his wig,
something else could have been done…it looked so childish and fake!
Another grouse was product placement. Unfortunately, the product placement of popular Procter and Gamble brands is not scripted properly
into the movie.
We understand its
relevant, in terms of support and financing for the production, but when
the product being referenced directs one’s attention away from the film
and introduces unnecessary scenes, which aim to promote the products,
then there is something obviously wrong.
And then the part two wasn’t necessary – the movie should have been shot into a part!
