What a beautiful thing to
give God thanks and to announce His love. I saw Your work, O Lord. You
rescue from hidden traps and shield us from deadly hazards.
In
February this year, as the borehole drillers were doing their work in our
compound, the enemy struck! Everyone was together watching the pumping of the water and rejoicing that we now have a bore-hole after years of going to fetch water, lol.
The generator used in pumping the water was at the back of the house and the wires were connected to the pumping machine in the front of the house.
My grand daughter, a 4year
old, was all by herself playing and somehow she saw one of the wires and thought it was some toy. She held on to it and she was electrocuted. All the while, no one knew what was happening because we were in front of the house rejoicing, ah!
All of a sudden, a neighbor shouted for
help. We rushed there to find that this girl had been electrocuted. She
was found dead by the generator, holding on to the cable.
According to the neighbor whose flat was directly behind ours – we had no fence yet – she was passing by when she found my grand daughter holding the wires. While trying to pull my grand daughter from the wires, she (the neighbor) was partially electorcuted and flung to the ground…. screaming for help.
I was no longer conscious of whatever was happening around me. Fear came upon me. ‘What
do l tell her parents? She was brought to spend some days with us, her
grand parents. So much shouts and cries. I was just shouting God, help me.
Save this girl and l will no longer play religion. Calls were made to my
other children who were believers, to start praying – the God they
always talk about as a miracle working God should prove Himself now in
this matter. But this one, God was and is still the Almighty.
I am saying this because l
did not, before this time, believe God could do everything for man. I
had always been surrounding myself with people who were in the same
shoes with me- free thinkers. We were always there for one another l
thought.
All the while, none of us knew what to do, no one wanted to touch her because she had turned white and her hair had turned grey…until somebody said, “Put off the generator”.
After the generator was put off, we waited for some seconds, pulled her off and made arrangements to rush her to the hospital.
On the way to
the hospital while l was still holding the ‘cold’ girl, crying my heart
out and making promises to God, SHE sneezed…..Kemi she sneezed and I couldn’t believe it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You could not explain the
ecstasy that followed. God perfected His work. l believed it was not
because l prayed hard or for any reason, God just decided to prove a
point that there is nothing He cannot do.
He did it in such a way that
people would honour HIM. I am thankful He did it through me as l think about
it in retrospect.
People, apart from those
that were aware of it from home, got to hear about it and they declared
‘God is God’. At the street where the girl came around, to
passers-by,they knew God did something great for us.l only pray that He
will help me to follow Him to the end.Praise the Lord.
