Mikel out of Africa Nations cup qualifier

Super Eagles Captain, John Obi Mikel has opted out of the team to face Seychelles in the 2019 AFCON qualifier in Victoria.

Mikel only returned to action for his Chinese club, Tianjin Teda last week after missing six weeks of league action due to injury.

Super Eagles Coach Gernot Rohr confirmed Mikel’s absence in an interview with KweseESPN

“We spoke together. He is just coming back from injury and he needs to push his club commitments to get back in shape,” Super Eagles head coach,”

“After injury, he needs time to get fit again.”

Gernot Rohr is set to announce his team list for the match against Seychelles on Friday
