When Footballer Emmanuel Adebayo blasted his immediate family on Facebook in the wee hours of today, not many fans applauded him for the outburst but music star Peter Okoye has publicly come out to support him!
And we understand.
You see, Peter, the outspoken one of the singing duo, Square, has had his fair share of family drama too.
Let’s take you down the memory lane.
Shortly after his wedding to Lola Omotayo in 2013, his family members allegedly kicked against him for marrying a non-igbo.
His elder brother in particular, Jude Okoye did not support his
marriage to his baby mama Lola Omotayo and failed to attend the wedding.
The drama got messier when it was insinuated that Lola Omotayo constantly cheated on Peter Okoye.
They despised her so much so that a DNA test was carried out to
really ascertain whether his children Cameron and Aliona were truly his.
Not to mention the recent feud between him and his twin brother Paul, who is claiming bragging rights over the group’s (Psquare) success.
Paul who rarely speaks out in public, took to his Instagram page a
few weeks back to blow his trumpet and list out his accomplishment – he
revealed that all the hit tracks ever released by them (Psquare) was
written, composed and produced by him.
He says he is the BRAIN behind the 40 best songs of Psquare.
Despite all these drama, Peter sees himself as the most successful one in the family
– late last year, he floated his own record label, he was also made an
ambassador for Olympic Milk without ‘Paul and right now, he is building
a multi-million naira beverage and bottling company in Lagos which will
launch later this year.
Now you understand why Peter reached out to the football star and close friend, moments ago via instagram, saying
“@e_adebayor thank you for sharing your story bro, that was very
brave. Indeed as Africans, the pressure is always on the most successful
in the family and it hurts when your efforts are not appreciated and
belittled. Truth is, you owe no one. Your family should be proud of you
and not condemn you. I’m so proud of you bro.”
We bet Peter might just openly address his family drama story soon.
