One of the survivors of the DusitD2 hotel terror attack, who was trapped in the hotel during the harrowing incident, claims to have recognized one of the terrorists as his client.
The man identified as Reuben Kimani, a lawyer who was rescued after several hours of being trapped in the hotel, told journalists, “I knew one of them because he had a big scar on one of his hands.
“I saw them. They shot six of my friends, four didn’t die but two succumbed.
Another survivor, John Maingi recalled seeing “a flash of lights and a loud bang” at the Secret Garden restaurant where he works.
“When I peeped outside I saw a human leg which has been cut off. We hid in the room and then some police officers rescued us.
A survivor who was also rescued from the building said the attackers were “very confident; they were people who knew what they were doing”.
As earlier reported, an attack by terrorists at DusitD2, an upscale hotel complex in Nairobi, Kenya, on Tuesday, January’s 15, 2019, left at least 14 people dead.
According to the reports, one suicide bomber blew himself up on the foyer of the hotel as his counterparts opened fire on hotel guests, staff and business owners in the popular complex which includes a 101-room hotel, spa, restaurant and office buildings and is situated in the heart of the Kenyan capital.
However, President Uhuru Kenyatta said on Wednesday, January 16, 2019, that the terrorists have been killed after almost 20 hours of in play between the militants and officers of the Kenyan police.
Al-Shabaab, an Al-Qaeda-linked Somali group, has since claimed responsibility for the attack.
