The Enugu chapter of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) has congratulated Dr. Peter Mbah, the newly elected governor of Enugu State, on his victory in the March 18 governorship election.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Peter Mbah of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) was named the victor of the governorship election in Enugu by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The association secretary, Mr. Sebastine Adonu, in Enugu on Wednesday, signed the congratulations letter.
The association assured the governor of its cordial, mutual and beneficial relationship in lifting sporting activities in the state.
The statement said, “Accept our warm congratulations on your deserved victory at the poll, we wish you the best as you prepare to assume the responsibilities of your new office.
“We assure you of our cordial, mutual and beneficial relationship as we strive to lift sporting activities in Enugu State.
“We look forward to working with you not only to develop sports in our dear state but to harness talents.
“Also to concert our efforts in the cause of peace and brotherhood of all residents,” it said.
The association urged the Governor to appoint a sports loving person as commissioner for sports to ensure sports development in the state.
“We look forward to seeing our state fully represented and compete in both international and national sports events,” the association said. (NAN)
