An 18-year-old boy, Babangida Ibrahim, was, on Friday, arraigned before an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly inflicting grievous harm on two persons and causing breach of peace.
Ibrahim, of no fixed address, is standing trial on a two-count charge of unlawful grievous harm and breach of peace.
The Police Prosecutor, Insp Johnson Okunade, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on April 7, at about 6 p.m. at Odido Tiv farm settlement, behind Federal Poly, Ado-Ekiti.
Okunade said that the defendant inflicted harm on one Dennis Kooko by cutting him on his left armpit and one Ape Lazarus by cutting him on his right hand with matchete.
He also said that the defendant conducted himself in a manner likely to cause breach of peace.
The offences, according to him, contravene Sections 255 and 181 (d) of the Criminal Laws of Ekiti State, 2021.
The prosecutor asked the court for an adjournment to enable him study the case file and assemble his witnesses.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges preferred against him.
The Defence Counsel, Mr Chris Omokhafe, urged the court to grant his client, with a promise that he would not jump bail.
The Chief Magistrate, Mr A.O. Adeosun, granted bail to the defendant in the sum of N100,000, with one surety in like sum.
He adjourned the case till May 10 for hearing. (NAN)
