A former sports journalist and resigned director with the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), Akinloye Oyebanj, has kicked the bucket at 62 years old.
Igbere TV discovered that Mr Oyebanji passed on at National Hospital, Abuja on Saturday morning from heart disease.
Oyebanji had been sick for just about four months now and his family had burned through a huge number of naira to spare his existence with no improvement, Igbere TV reports.
Family source said he had the incident of losing his kidneys which were replaced effectively through a transplant in India.
“But one of the side effects of kidney transplant is heart failure, which he had experienced on two occasions and survived,” a family member said.
Oyebanji served the NTA for a long time 35 years to be precise in various limits, including being a sports broadcaster, and later as general manager (sports).
He resigned as managing director of NTA Properties at the authrority’s base camp in Abuja.
Oyebanji worked with incredible sports columnist, Walter Oyatogun, who passed on at 78 years old in 2014.
Talking after Oyatogun’s passing, Oyebanji said they were associates at once and that he took in a great deal from him.
“He was dedicated to his work, punctual and ensured that everything went smoothly and in the right way,” he said.
Oyebanji, who hailed from Kwara, is made due by four youngsters and a spouse.
