Police and other security agencies in Oyo State will keep working hard to maintain peace before, during, and after the governorship and house of assembly elections in the state, according to Adebowale Williams, the state’s commissioner of police.
While on a monitoring tour of some polling places and other areas in the state to ensure free and fair elections, Adebowale, who was with other heads of security agencies in the state, provided the assurance.
Among the places and polling places visited, according to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), were Oke-odo, Ile-Tuntun, Onipepeye in Iwo Road, Ogbere, Amuloko, Akanran, Idi-Ose in the Ona-Ara Local Government Area, Orita-Aperin, and Elekuro.
The police chief called on politicians to continue to maintain peace in the interest of all and sundry.
Adebowale advised the people not to create a situation where security agents would start running after suspected hoodlums and shooting at the law breakers.
“The process can be seamless for all of us and results declared without any violence, if we all play by the rules.
“You have campaigned for people to vote for you, so go and relax and wait for the results,” he said.
Williams assured the people of a peaceful atmosphere, saying that adequate security had been deployed for the election.
He urged the people to call on the security agents whenever they notice anything that could led to breakdown of law and orders. (NAN)
