There was drama at the Akwa Ibom airport yesterday as wife of former Governor of the state and now Senator, Godswill Akpabio attempted to upstage the wife of the current governor, Udom Emmanuel as she was to receive First Lady, Aisha Buhari.
It was Mrs Buhari’s first official visit to the state where she was to flag off her project, Future Assured Programme. Reports have it that Mrs Akpabio was going to step in as First Lady to receive Mrs Buhari despite the presence of the current First Lady, Mrs Martha Emmanuel.
Mrs Buhari was said to have stepped back into her aircraft and its door was shut to allow for normalcy to be restored. After security personnel were able to convince Mrs Akpabio to step back, Mrs Buhari then proceeded to alight from the place to be received by First Lady, Mrs Emmanuel.
