Prof. Itse Sagay (SAN) has stated that senators in Nigeria earn N15million monthly which is contrary to a claim made by Senate President Ahmad Lawan who stated that he earns N750,000.
Itse Sagay asked the Senate President of to stop misleading Nigerians after he stated that senators are not entitled to any “jumbo pay”.
The words from Ahmad Lawan generated a huge debate among Nigerians who have always held the notion that the lawmakers are getting paid way .ore than necessary.
In a new interview, Sagay revealed that Nigerians are very much interested in the amount senators take home as salary.
He said, “I respect and like him (Lawan), but what he has done is to give half-truth. He is telling us the actual salary without mentioning anything about the allowances.
“So, technically, he is right. That is their salary. But what is his income, take-home pay, at the end of the month? It is about N15m and we are not including many other things we need talk about now.”
