Senator Shehu Sani representing Kaduna Central has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to respond to the decision by Governor El Rufai of Kaduna State to contest for re-election with a Muslim running mate.
El Rufai recently announced Dr. Hadiza Balarabe as his running mate.
According to Shehu Sani, he wondered why the President who has a Christian as his vice would accent to APC fielding Msulim-Muslim candidates for the 2019 gubernatorial election in Kaduna State.
In a series of tweets, he wrote:
“President’s name is dragged into the politics of manipulation of religion in Kaduna state, there’s the need for him to make a public clarification.
“It’s puzzling that a President who has always respected religious sensitivities, when nominating his vice could have recommended otherwise for Kaduna.”
