Liverpool are willing to take a hit on the £35 million they paid for Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain in 2017 and are willing to sell the Englishman for £10 million, according to the Liverpool Echo.
The former Arsenal man made an impressive start to his Liverpool career, scoring a memorable brace against Manchester City in the 2018 Champions League quarter-final home leg. After tearing his ACL shortly after the aforementioned quarter final, his development has stalled, and he has yet to regain his pre-injury form.
As a result, Liverpool is keeping an open mind about any offers for the 28-year-old this summer. The midfielder will be surplus to requirements at Anfield, with the Merseyside club linked with PSV’s Ibrahim Sangare and Barcelona starlet Gavi. He has run out of time.
Oxlade-Chamberlain has been linked with Manchester United and West Ham over the last few days. Following the departures of Nemanja Matic, Paul Pogba, Jesse Lingard, and Juan Mata, United must add depth to their midfield, while West Ham will require engine room reinforcement if Declan Rice leaves this summer.
Liverpool is also attempting to raise as much money as possible in the coming weeks. The Reds are expected to sign Darwin Nuez from Benfica in a deal worth up to £85 million.
Oxlade-Chamberlain isn’t the only Liverpool player linked with a summer departure. If Bayern Munich can make an adequate offer, Sadio Mané will join the German champions. Takumi Minamino and Naby Keita both appear to be on their way out.
