Former Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois is delighted to return to Stamford Bridge as his Real Madrid side face the Blues in the Champions League semi-finals.
The Belgian is relishing the opportunity to face his Old club with Los Blancos in the battle for a place in this Champions League final.
The Belgium International left Stamford Bridge back in 2018, which by his own admission, “wasn’t in the best way”.
Courtois will now certainly return to Stamford with Zinedine Zidane after both sides progressed to the last four.
The 28-year-old shot stopper helped Real Madrid overcome Liverpool in the two-legged quarter-final, winning 3-1 in Spain and drawing 0-0 at Anfield.
Courtois made four big saves to deny the Reds a route back into the game after Los Blancos won 3-1 in the first-leg last week.
Chelsea booked their place earlier on Tuesday after beating Portuguese giants Porto 2-1 over two legs and it’s something he’s very much excited for.
Speaking to BeIN Sports, Courtois said: “It will be very nice to see a lot of familiar faces and I wish there was public at Stamford Bridge because there was a lot of happy moments I had there, even though maybe my departure wasn’t in the best way, or it was put that way, that it wasn’t the best way, but I only have good memories.
“Two Premier Leagues, a lot of other trophies, I’m really happy to play them but only one can be in the final and I hope it’s Real Madrid.”
