The West African giants have already watched the likes of Angelo Ogbonna opted to represent the European side.
Federazione Italiana Giuoco Calcio are now in pole position to secure the services of Destiny Udogie.
Apart from Udogie, Atalanta star Caleb Okoli has also chosen Italy as his first choice, making Nigeria an alternative for international football.

Udogie recently announced he will love to turn out for the Azzurri.
“I was born in Italy, so I feel more Italian. I grew up playing with the young players in Italy, so I want to continue with Italy,” he said.
He has now been called up by the European side and is in the mix to make his senior debut for his country of birth.
He will be joining the rest of the Italian squad for the 2024 European Championship qualifiers against Malta and England on October 14 and October 17 respectively.
He was born in Verona to Nigerian parents.
