Arsenal is allegedly more concerned with politics than on-field performance, according to Bernd Leno, who played for the club in the past.
At the beginning of August, the German goalkeeper’s four-year stint with the Gunners came to an end and he signed a three-year contract to join Fulham permanently.
Aaron Ramsdale replaced him as the starting goalkeeper for Arsenal at the start of the 2021/22 season after serving as the club’s first-choice keeper for his first three seasons in north London.
Then, in the summer, American goalkeeper Matt Turner was added, further relegating him.
The 30-year-old claimed during an interview with BILD that his former club cared more about politics than performances.
“[Arsenal] are not about performance or quality,” he told the German publication.
“In the preparation [pre-season] I realised that it’s not about performance, it’s just about politics. It was clear to me: I have to leave here.”
