Gabriel Jesus, a forward for Arsenal, expressed his satisfaction with his team’s Premier League debut.
The Gunners defeated Leicester City 4-2 at the Emirates Stadium to win their second straight match to start the league season.
The Brazilian, who assisted on two of the four goals and scored twice, admitted after the game that he was extremely happy with the Gunners’ start to the current campaign.
“I’m so happy, not just because of the goals but the way the team is playing,” the 25-year-old said. “In difficult moments we conceded twice, but we continued to play well and tried to score.
“We know the qualities that they have. They have a lot of good players, runs in-behind, Jamie Vardy is one of the top strikers in the league.
“I’m so happy with the three points. It’s important.”
Jesus moved to Arsenal in the summer in a £45 million deal from Manchester City, where he had difficulty finding regular playing time as the team’s central striker.
The Brazilian international emphasised how excited he is to take Mikel Arteta’s place as the line leader, saying:
“I’m enjoying it a lot. It wasn’t as if I was unhappy at City. I just wanted to play. I understood the club and manager, but sometimes players just want to play.
“I train everyday, with myself and Eddie [Nketiah] working on finishing. I think Arsenal have two good strikers.”
Next weekend, Arsenal will travel to take on Bournemouth as the north London team looks to maintain its perfect start to the season.
