Despite Erling Haaland’s form, Harry Kane has not given up on winning the Premier League Golden Boot this season.
Kane has had a strong start to the season, scoring eight goals in nine games for Tottenham, putting him second in the Premier League’s top scorers list so far this season.
Haaland, who has already scored 15 league goals for Manchester City, has overshadowed him with his accomplishments. It’s unlikely that Kane or any other player will score more goals than him this season given his current form, but the Englishman hasn’t given up hope of doing so.
“There is a long way to go,” he said after Tottenham’s victory over Brighton.
“Obviously [there are] some top players in the league but I’m feeling good, so it is nice to keep getting on the scoresheet, especially important goals to help the team win.
“A lot of games coming thick and fast, Champions League again in midweek, so we’ve got to recover well and the whole squad has to be ready to play so yeah we’ve got to keep battling out the games.”
Kane was substituted before the end of the match against Brighton due to an ankle injury, but the forward has insisted that it is not a cause for concern.
“Yeah, just a knock I think,” he stated. “A sore one but definitely worth it when you win the game.”
