According to reports surfacing, Kjetil Knutsen is one of the names that consistently appears on shortlists of candidates for the managerial position in Brighton.
Graham Potter, the head coach of Brighton, recently resigned to take Thomas Tuchel’s place at Chelsea. His appointment as manager of Stamford Bridge is a reward for the advancements the Seagulls have made under his leadership in recent years.
At the Amex Stadium, Potter will be hard to follow. However, Brighton must start planning as soon as possible for how they will fill the void.
Andrew Crofts is currently in charge temporarily. But a permanent appointment ought to be made as soon as possible.
The Daily Telegraph reports that two prominent candidates are in the running to succeed Potter. According to their information, Knutsen is vying for the position with Roberto De Zerbi.
Knutsen’s reputation as the boss of Bodo/Glimt has grown in his native Norway. They famously eliminated Celtic from the Europa Conference League last season after defeating Jose Mourinho’s Roma 6-1.
They are currently playing in the Europa League. Soon, they will face Arsenal in the group stage.
But it is unclear whether Knutsen will continue to lead the team or if he will manage Brighton in the Premier League in place of clubs like Arsenal.
It’s interesting to note that Knutsen now has a better chance of being approved for a work permit since Norway’s top division was added to the list of leagues that prospective English club employees can earn points for.
According to the report, Roberto De Zerbi is also up for debate. The former head coach of Sassuolo recently resigned from his position with Shakhtar Donetsk and is now searching for a way to return to management.
