Bruno Lage, the Wanderers’ manager, is lacking options up front, so the free agent Costa might be the perfect fill-in during this difficult time. Costa may sign with Wolves outside the transfer window as he is currently without a club.
After leaving Chelsea in 2017, the striker returned to Atletico Madrid for three and a half years, but since his contract with Atletico Mineiro was terminated in January, he has been without a club.
The Wanderers have struggled to find a reliable goal threat since Diogo Jota left for Liverpool and Jimenez has had recent fitness issues. They only scored 38 goals last season, which was the fourth-lowest total in the division despite finishing tenth in the Premier League.
The club had hoped that Kalajdzic, who was acquired from Stuttgart, could resolve those problems, but Costa is now being considered as a replacement after his injury forced the club to scramble for options.
